How we know the prices, and what it costs
How does Cenu Grozs know store prices?
Prices come from the official data the supermarket chains report to the state every day. They are not sent in by users or copied from ads - so the prices in your basket are real.
Are the prices really up to date?
Yes - we update prices every morning. If a store changes a price today, it is in the app tomorrow morning.
Which stores are included?
Right now we compare Lidl, Maxima and Rimi stores across Latvia - and show only the ones we actually cover. You pick the specific stores you shop at, not just the chains.
Where is it cheaper to buy groceries this week?
That depends on what you buy - for one basket Lidl is cheapest, for another Rimi, or a split between the two. That is why Cenu Grozs works out your basket, not an average price level.
How does the app find the cheapest store for my basket?
In every category - milk, bread, eggs - the app finds the cheapest product in each of your stores by price per kilogram or litre. Then it adds up the basket's total in every store and checks whether a split across 2-3 stores comes out cheaper still.
Are discounts included in the prices?
Yes - if a discount applies with no extra conditions, it is already in the price you see. Multi-buy deals ("2 for the price of 1") are not added to the total automatically, so the basket never promises more than you will pay.
Do I need store loyalty cards?
The app assumes you have the stores' free loyalty cards - for example, Maxima prices are worked out with the Paldies card. If you don't have one yet, you can get it free at any Maxima customer service desk.
How much does Cenu Grozs cost?
The first 7 days are free. After that - €19.99 a year (about €1.67 a month) or €2.99 a month. You can cancel the subscription anytime.
